The attempts to limit the freedom of speech of magistrates are flourishing across Europe: from the “muzzle law” in Poland to the “amendement bâillon” in France; in Italy, the National Association of Magistrates is accused of “undue interference” for its interventions in the debate on the reform of justice, while judges and prosecutors are labelled as “political militants” on the sole basis of decisions taken in the exercise of their functions.
